25 minutes from Aix-en-Provence, a fully enclosed 3-hectare estate, with outbuildings and wellness areas.
The village of Grambois is situated on a rocky outcrop from the southern slopes of the Luberon Mountains, to the north of Aix-en-Provence, in the southwest of the Vaucluse area. It is part of the regional natural park that shares its name with the mountains. The rural municipality spreads over several hills, between pine forests, vineyards and lavender fields. The area's widespread agricultural activities have today still preserved it from mass tourism. Its main asset is its advantageous location, away from the hustle and bustle and amidst nature, a little more than 20 km from Aix-en-Provence and its many infrastructures (high-speed TGV train stations, airports, universities, hospitals, among others).
At the summit of a small hill, the vast, entirely fenced property stands on land on which is planted a wide range of Mediterranean trees (evergreen oaks, olive trees, pines and cypress). The main house faces due south, with the backd-rop of Mount Saint-Victoire, so dear to the painter Paul Cézanne. Tucked away from prying eyes, the property lies behind a large, wrought iron gate framed by two stone pillars on either side of which stand masonry walls.
After the estate keeper's house, another wall encloses the private part of the estate, made up of a spacious residence and a guests' house. Both are set around a green lawn adorned with a large stone pond. Further away and lower down, an infinity pool surrounded by decking with panoramic views is very conducive to relaxation. Other well-being facilities (such as a Turkish bath, a sauna and a jacuzzi) are dotted around the property. Lastly, the lower part of the land, divided into terraces, is more agricultural in nature and suitable for keeping horses.
The main houseThe rounded, double-leaf, wooden entrance gate, stands against one of the house's facades. It is framed by two pillars similar to those at the entrance to the estate. Several buildings stand opposite the central garden, each topped by gabled roofs made up of barrel tiles. In the centre of the main group of buildings, an earthenware tiled decorative feature is evocative of those found in dovecotes on traditional Provence farmhouses. The southern façade has large picture windows, bathing the living rooms in light. Other smaller windows with wooden shutters denote the locations of the bedrooms. The main entrance is located beneath an awning standing against the northern facade.
The ground floor
After the entrance, a flight of steps leads down into a living room boasting a large, fully retractable picture window. This bright and central room opens onto a large patio overlooking the garden and taking in the views. The floor is made up of terracotta tiles. A lounge area located in a recess in the northern facade stands around a fireplace. The large, exposed, wooden cross beams on the ceiling, stretching from one side to another, dominate this entire space, reinforcing the impression of cosiness that the place exudes.
The two wings of the residence can be found on either side of the living room. In the east wing, a music room with wide stripped wooden flooring is bathed in light by large windows at each end. In the back wall, two doors each lead to an independent part of the house. The first is set over two levels, including, on the ground floor, a living room opening onto a patio and a bathroom. On the upper level, there is a bedroom with a sloping ceiling. The second part is made up of a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living area with its own patio looking out onto the garden.
In the opposite wing, there is a dining room and a perpendicular and open-plan kitchen, with a long, central island unit, adjacent to the summer kitchen outside.
At the end of the central island, a door leads to an ...
