A dwelling, to renovate, with patios and sea views, on the outskirts of the Calanques National Park, in Marseille's 8th arrondissement.
In the Bouches-du-Rhône department, between La Ciotat and Marseille - where the house is located - the Calanques massif is a large-scale natural site recognised for its biodiversity and landscapes, while, from April to September, a ferry connects the port of Les Goudes with downtown Marseille, with a stop in La Pointe Rouge. In addition, local shops, Pastré Park and its equestrian centre, beaches, diving centres as well as hiking paths are only a few minutes away by either car or bicycle, whereas the Saint-Charles train station and the Marseille-Provence airport are 20 and 45 minutes away, respectively.
Built in an environment combining urban amenities with nature, the dwelling features an inhabitable floor area of approximately 106 m², sand-colour plaster-coated exteriors and windows/doors safeguarded by wooden shutters or blinds, while its roof, which was elevated in the 2000s in order to add two more levels, is highlighted by a double genoise cornice.
With tile floors for both its interior and patios, ensuring continuity throughout, the dwelling, organised into five main rooms, including several with views of the sea or the surrounding landscape, boasts two patios extending its interior towards the outdoors, whereas a glass door, with its wooden shutter, provides access to the dwelling, through the garage to the west, as does a rather inconspicuous entrance to the north, via a small patio.
The Dwelling
The ground floor
To the north, a small patio precedes the dwelling's entrance, while a sunny kitchen, with its windows facing the patio as well the sea, thereby establishing a direct link with nature, represents the dwelling's main room. Extending on from here, to the south, a bedroom, a shower room, a conservatory as well as a separate lavatory round out the rooms on this level.
The first floor
Accessible from the kitchen via a wooden staircase, it includes a dual-aspect space, currently used as a study, with windows to the north and west, while a bedroom, facing the sea, precedes a private terrace of approximately 15 m².
The second floor
A room, of approximately 22 m², extends over this entire level and is bathed in light thanks to a small window and a porthole facing the sea.
The lower level
This lower level, or ground floor, depending on which side of the house one enters, is accessible via a door that opens on to the garage, of approximately 17 m², which is then followed by a small workshop suitable for storing equipment. In addition, a bedroom gives on to an alcove, which was once used as a small kitchen and still contains a door communicating directly with the exterior, thereby providing autonomy for this floor, as well as a staircase ascending to the ground-floor kitchen, while a shower room with lavatory can also be found on this level.
