A 600-m² residence, in the heart of Montfort-l'Amaury, with eight bedrooms, a walled garden and a swimming pool.
Montfort-l'Amaury stands on the edge of Rambouillet Forest and is one of the most sought-after villages in the Yvelines area. It was founded in the 11th century around a fortress belonging to the lords of Montfort and the municipality has retained the traces of its medieval past, with winding narrow streets, old edifices and townhouses making up a particularly harmonious whole. The Saint-Pierre church, which is a masterpiece of flamboyant Gothic style, pays witness to the village's prosperity in the Renaissance period. It boasts a peaceful atmosphere that has attracted many artists and writers. Montfort-l'Amaury is only around forty kilometres from Paris and enjoys the advantages of being an intact historical village at the gateway to the French capital.
A short distance from schools, shops and the centre of Montfor-l'Amaury, the residence, which has been transformed over the centuries, stands in an approximately 3,000-m² plot surrounded by stone walls.
The several-storey edifice is made up of two wings forming an L-shape, one of which is partly independent. This provides multiple accommodation options, over a surface of almost 600 m² of living space. The elevations are coated with light-coloured rendering, beneath a roof made of old, flat tiles.
The garden surrounds the house and includes a swimming pool and pool hut.
The residence has been carefully restored, retaining its character thanks to the use of old and noble materials: on each level, the flooring is made up of an alternation of weathered terracotta tiles, light-coloured stone slabs and oakwood parquet floors.
The house boasts eight bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom and lavatory, while there is also the possibility to create extra bedrooms.
The house
The ground floor
It has a surface of more than 240 m², approximately 40 m² of which is devoted to professional space. The reception rooms total more than 110 m². The entrance, which opens into vast rooms bathed in light with ceiling heights of three metres, is followed by an almost 65-m² living room with a stone fireplace and Versailles parquet, an office which could be converted into a snug to add around 20-m² of reception space, and an almost 64-m² dining room, followed by an ample, approximately 60-m² open-plan kitchen with a dining area. The exposed beams on the ceilings of the various rooms give the house plenty of character. A large, ground floor bedroom, with an en suite shower room and lavatory, provides comfort and privacy. In a space that is both cosy and functional, many shelves, a lavatory and a number of hallways make everyday life easier.
The first floor
A staircase with time-worn steps climbs up from the old terracotta tiled flooring to the first-floor landing, also paved with terracotta tiles, which leads to five bedrooms. First, there is the master bedroom, which is generously bathed in light and stands adjacent to a bathroom with a shower, lavatory and a bath, as well as to a walk-in wardrobe. Following on from the landing, a corridor leads to four other bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom with a lavatory. There are considerable ceiling heights throughout as well as light that streams in everywhere. The materials used for the restoration have been chosen with care.
The second floor
The landing leads to the rooms on this level where a sober and authentic spirit predominates. A first room, which is in its original state, could easily be transformed into an office or small bedroom. Two other bedrooms each have an en suite shower room with a lavatory, ensuring comfort and privacy. Lastly, a vast space made up of two rooms today forms a pleasant living space, containing a games room and a dormitory. There is also wardrobe space. As on the ...
