A vast residence built in 1908, with a walled garden and swimming pool, in a peaceful environment a short distance from Beauvais.
This property is located in a residential municipality very close to Beauvais. The village is much appreciated for its peaceful living environment as well as rural landscape and boasts all essential shops including a supermarket. Beauvais is 5 kilometres away and plays host to all essential public services, the best schools and first-rate cultural facilities, such as the Quadrilatère arts centre, the MUDO (Musée départemental de l'Oise or museum of the Oise area in English) and the Beauvaisis theatre. The town is especially well known for the Saint Pierre Cathedral and its Gothic choir.
Paris can be reached in around 1 hour from the railway station in Beauvais or by car via the A16 motorway. Regular flights to a number of European destinations can be taken from the Beauvais-Tillé airport.
The property can be reached via a street in the centre of the village and is sheltered from view by a tall surrounding wall made of old bricks.
In front of the house, pruned boxwood hedges provide structure to the garden, situated either side of paths that lead up to the edifice. There is a patio to the rear of the residence leading to a vast, tree-lined lawn.
Vehicles can enter the property via a courtyard, which leads to a separate garage and an above-ground swimming pool.
The residenceIt was built in 1908 out of red brick, with light-coloured, wide, masonry cornices, underlining each level, and quoins, producing a remarkable contrast of materials and tones. The ivory-coloured, masonry window surrounds emphasise edifice's appearance combining contrasts between red and white. The three-storey house, also with cellars on the garden level floor, is situated in the centre of an entirely walled, approximately 3,000-m² garden.
The orderly layout of the main facade boasts a regular arrangement punctuated by symmetrical vertical rows of openings on either side of the entrance door. This strictness is tempered by a touch of fantasy on the two facades: on the entrance side, a wing to the right protrudes slightly, while on the other side there is a bay window topped by a balcony. The small-paned, glazed entrance door can be reached by a stoop and is protected by a wrought-iron awning. The slate and zinc Mansard roof is punctuated by dormers on the main facades and bullseye windows on the side elevations.
The ground floor
The entrance opens into a vast hall paved with geometric florally patterned cement tiles, whose splendour is enhanced by the light filtering through the glazed door. Custom-made bookshelves line one of the walls. A wooden staircase leads to the upper floors.
To the left, there is a first lounge with Herringbone parquet flooring, opposite a second larger lounge. The arched ceiling boasts a finely sculpted cornice, while the mouldings pay witness to the care lavished open the decoration in the reception rooms. The two finely crafted, Louis XV style, marble fireplaces are distinctive architectural features: both are topped by windows, offering views of the garden while enjoying the heat of a log fire. The two rooms set one after another and connected by a double-leaf door are generously bathed in light through their many windows. The second lounge opens onto a patio that leads directly into the garden, which also connects with the dining room and extends around the bay window. There are also a smaller dining area and a kitchen on this level.
The first floor
A winding staircase with a wooden balustrade and steps climbs to the first floor, arriving at a landing leading, on the left, to an office and a bathroom, which has a tiled floor incorporating a section of old wood stripped flooring. Opposite, there is a vast bedroom that opens onto the balcony above the bay ...
