In addition, Paris is only three hours and 15 minutes away by car, whereas, the property, located in the downtown area, is not only within easy walking distance to a number of shops, but also nestled in a peaceful environment along the banks of the river.
In a residential neighbourhood, tucked between the street and the gardens that extend all the way to the banks of the Indre River, the three-storey dwelling, topped with a slate roof, is bordered on one side by its outbuildings and, on the other, by an adjoining dwelling. In addition, a few steps under one of the dwelling's two wings lead to a furnace room, followed by a cellar, while, outside, a lean-to is used for storage, and the adjacent outbuildings, the roofs of which are topped with mainly interlocking tiles on one side and small local tiles on the other, include a workshop, facing the garden, with a wood-clad façade and an exterior staircase leading to an immense attic level, as well as several storerooms and two garages, which can be found in the back.
The Dwelling
The ground floor
The long tiled entranceway, which provides access to the patio on the other side of the dwelling, communicates, on one side, with an initial bedroom facing the street, which, in turn, provides access to an adjacent shower room via a semi-glazed sliding door. Following on from here is a separate lavatory, while a hallway to the dwelling's two living rooms contains a washbasin and a wardrobe concealed behind a curtain.
As for the first living room, located in one of the dwelling's wings, it is bathed in light thanks to two windows and a glass door providing direct access to the patio, while its décor features wood panelling, bookshelves, oak hardwood floors and crown moulding. In addition, a small sitting room was created in the back of the wing with a window looking out over the garden, a working wood-burning stove, connected to an old black marble fireplace, oak hardwood floors as well as a cupboard with audio-visual equipment.
Directly opposite the bedroom, a dining room, with two windows facing the street, hardwood floors and a veined brown marble fireplace, communicates with a small dining nook with a window looking out on to the patio, while a few steps descend towards a fitted kitchen, located in the other wing, directly opposite the two living areas. Encased by windows and glass doors, it enjoys enchanting views and direct access to the patio and garden below, whereas a fireplace used as a wood-fired oven supplements the kitchen's different worktops and amenities.
The first floor
Accessible from a recent wooden staircase in the entranceway, which leads to a large landing with windows overlooking the patios and garden, on one side of the staircase, an initial bedroom with hardwood floors, a fireplace and two windows precedes an immense wardrobe, while a few steps then lead to a shower room with windows looking out on to the garden. In addition, on the other side of the staircase, there is a separate lavatory, a second bedroom with a fireplace, a washbasin as well as the base of the staircase to the second floor.
