A 19th-century, tastefully renovated and sunny manor house, immersed in absolute silence, with six bedrooms and a verdant garden, in Fontenay-aux-Rose

A 19th-century, tastefully renovated and sunny manor house, immersed in absolute silence, with six bedrooms and a verdant garden, in Fontenay-aux-Roses.
Built in 1860, the freestanding dwelling, sheltered from view thanks tall walls around the property, is located in the middle of a lot of approximately 530 m², while its three main floors were built over a full basement level and there is also a self-contained studio flat in the garden.
On the ground floor, a sunny entrance hall provides access to a living area, facing south, made up of a sitting room with a fireplace and a dining room, which open, via three sets of tall glass double doors, on to a patio overlooking the garden. In addition, this living area also communicates with a contemporary dual-aspect kitchen, featuring a glass double doors, to the west, which provides outdoor access as well as many cupboards and a central island with a sink, designed for eating breakfast or light meals, while, lastly, this floor also includes a separate lavatory and the entrance to the basement.
On the first floor, two bedrooms, one of which has a wardrobe and a shower room, overlook the garden and the surrounding area, whereas a a spacious bathroom - with a shower and a bathtub - a study and a separate lavatory can also be found on this level. As for the second floor, it contains four bedrooms - two on the garden side and two facing the street - as well as a bathroom, while the basement plays a utilitarian role with its laundry room, cellar and furnace room.
Sheltered from view, the garden was landscaped by a professional and is accessible via either a stone patio, surrounded by an original stone balustrade, or directly from the property's entrance on the other side of the house, where a courtyard surrounded by vegetation, trees and shrubs, chosen for their contrasting foliage, can accommodate up to three or four vehicles. Finally, an outbuilding contains a studio flat with a small kitchen, a shower room and lavatory.
The Entrance Hall and Ground FloorWith its roof redone in 2017, the dwelling stands in the middle of the lot, sheltered from view thanks to a high wall topped with dense ivy and accessible via a large automatic gate. At the top of its original stone front steps, a glass and wrought-iron vestibule painted white and decorated with a floral motif, precedes the glazed front door, while, past the threshold, a jaw-dropping entrance hall, bathed in sunlight, communicates with the living areas and includes a staircase with solid oak steps, safeguarded by a wrought-iron bannister, around which a breath-taking carpet of original cement floor tiles spreads out for all to admire.
Directly opposite, the living room, featuring three sets of glass double doors opening southwards, is drenched in abundant sunlight, while a white marble Louis XV "Pompadour" fireplace with a scalloped mantelpiece and a central medallion - popular in the late 19th century - decorates one side of the living room.
Following on from here, a large dining room communicates directly with the adjacent kitchen and, thanks to its impressive features - solid oak mitred Herringbone hardwood floors, a floor-to-ceiling height of more than 2.8 metres and its southern-facing exposure, bathing the room in ample light - creates an extremely pleasant area for entertaining.
In addition, the kitchen of more than 10 m², also accessible from the entrance hall, is decorated in an understated palette of grey and white. Modern and cosy, it features two windows that face the front courtyard and a set of glass double doors that open to the west, as well as a central island with cupboards, a sink and a space large enough to eat light meals, while all the cast-iron radiators on this floor are original and decorated with a charming floral pattern.
