A manor house, with a garden and many outbuildings, in a village 30 minutes from Tours.
The village is located in the wooded and peaceful countryside of the Gâtine sector nears Tours, to the north of the River Loire, in the west of the Indre-et-Loire area, around 270 kilometres from Paris. The station in Tours is 30 minutes away, from where high-speed TGV trains put the French capital within less than 1 hour's reach. The chateaux at Azay-le-Rideau and Villandry are approximately twenty kilometres away, while Langeais, with its shops, market and chateau, can be reached in less than 15 minutes. Essential everyday services can be found in the surrounding villages, at a distance of only several kilometres. As for the municipality itself, it has nursery and primary schools as well as a doctor's surgery and a chemist. A junior high school is located nearby.
The tuffeau stone built, two-storey residence topped by an attic level stands in one of the village's main streets. On one side, an iron gate leads to a lawned area and beneath a raised terrace with stone balusters into a courtyard lined by several workshops. On the other side, another iron gate leads into the garden. The house is oriented north-south and the facade overlooking the street is punctuated with tall windows, through which light streams into the reception rooms on the ground floor and into the bedrooms on the first floor. The edifice's marble fireplaces, ceiling roses, wood panelling and parquet flooring have all been preserved. A two-storey building, one of which is an attic level, extending perpendicularly to the house, is divided between a room for restoration and a vast workshop with three tiled rooms that can be reached from the courtyard. It is followed by the garden, on one side of which there are three other outbuildings occupied by two workshops and an open-fronted garage. On the other side, a hut built of tuffeau stone stands against a stone wall.
The residenceThis tuffeau stone-built edifice has three storeys one of which is in the attic space. Cornices underline the windows and roof, which is made of slate tiles and is dotted with two gable dormers with triangular pediments to the north. On the south side, the walls are rendered, while the quoins as well as window and door frames are made of made of tuffeau stone. The roof is punctuated by a wall dormer with a triangular pediment and a veranda protects the door.
The ground floor
From the street, at the top of several steps, a wooden door opens into an entrance hall paved with mosaic tiles, while opposite a door leads into the courtyard. The entrance leads to a double lounge on one side and a dining room on the other. The lounge is divided into two separate spaces separated by an arch spanning its full width with a marble fireplace standing against one of the walls. Part of the lounge has wood stripped flooring, while the other part is paved with stone slabs. At the end of it, a door leads into a perpendicularly set building awaiting restoration. There is wood stripped flooring throughout, the ceiling boasts mouldings as well as a central rose, there is wood panelling on the walls and the room has a marble fireplace. The kitchen can be reached via the entrance and the dining room. It has a tiled floor and painted walls. A door from it opens into a hallway leading to a scullery as well as to a shower room with a lavatory. A door leads outside from this room, beneath the terrace.
The first floor
The staircase climbs to a landing after which there is a corridor leading to all the rooms, with painted walls and wood stripped flooring throughout. To the side, a first door opens into two bedrooms, one after another, with a bathroom. There is exposed tuffeau stonework on one of the walls.
