A former chapel enlarged and converted into a family dwelling, 20 minutes from Châtellerault and 30 minutes from Poitiers, in the Vienne department.
In the north of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the property is located within the Vienne department and surrounded by gently rolling countryside, while a village, ten minutes away, features shops and services, including medical facilities, in addition to a small green market every Sunday morning. In addition, the high-speed rail station in Châtellerault, 20 minutes away, provides train service to Paris in one hour and 15 minutes, whereas the one in Poitiers, 30 minutes away, makes it possible to reach the capital in one hour and twenty minutes, Bordeaux in one hour and the Charles-de-Gaulle airport in 2.5 hours.
Nestled in a hamlet, at the end of a no-through road, the property, surrounded by an enclosure wall and fencing, is accessible via a gate, which opens on to a garden and a swimming pool, while, a little further on, the L-shaped dwelling, topped with recent interlocking barrel tile roofs, features, on one side, a former 15th-century chapel with its plaster-coated stonework and, on the other, a more modern extension.
The Dwelling
The ground floor
Accessible from its front door, which opens on to a large foyer in the dwelling's more contemporary extension, three steps provide access to a living room with a fireplace, located in the former chapel. The latter is crowned with two ribbed vaults, whose keystones are decorated with multifoil motifs and coats-of-arms, while some of its springers have preserved their vegetal décor. Following on from here is a kitchen as well as, a little further on, a bedroom, a bathroom, a utility room and a lavatory, whereas, from the living room, a wooden staircase leads to a mezzanine and a bedroom.
Back in the foyer, three other steps lead to the dwelling's contemporary extension, built at a right angle to the chapel. With terracotta floor tiles, this wing boasts four bedrooms, as well as a bathroom, a shower room and a lavatory, while three bedrooms feature glass double doors that open on to the garden.
The first floor
A staircase from the foyer provides access to this level, with parquet floors throughout, which contains a double living area, as well as a bedroom and a lavatory.
The basement
Located under the dwelling's contemporary extension and quite roomy, it includes a boiler room, a workshop and several storage rooms. The GardenEnclosed by walls and wire fencing, it is planted with hazelnuts, elms, birches and maritime pines, which shelter the property from view, while a 10 x 5-metre swimming pool, safeguarded by a fence, will need to be renovated.
