A modern family house with a 350m² floor area, a large garden and a swimming pool, beside a forest in L'Étang-la-Ville, a town just west of Paris.
The house stands on a 1,279m² plot on the edge of Marly forest. It has a ground floor and a first floor. On the ground floor, a Zen-like entrance hall leads into an 88m² reception room. This vast space includes a dining area, an open-plan kitchen and a lounge centred on a fireplace with an insert. Wood strip flooring made of merbau - an exotic wood renowned for its resistance - extends across this reception space, underlining its coherence. Broad, sliding glazed doors lead outside onto a vast terrace at the same level as the reception space. This ground floor also includes a master bedroom with its own shower room and private terrace. A guest lavatory completes the ground floor. A concrete and resin staircase leads up to the first floor, where a landing connects to two large bedrooms. The first bedroom has its own shower room. The second one has its own bathroom and a private balcony looking down at the garden. This first floor also includes three other bedrooms, as well as another bathroom. Outside, there is an extensive terrace made of exotic timber. This terrace is like an outdoor extension of the reception room inside. Indeed, the broad, sliding glazed doors create a constant link between the interior and exterior, bringing an abundance of natural light inside throughout the day. The garden is dotted with trees and shrubs. It is well organised and extends around a small, rectangular swimming pool set in a surround of exotic wood with a patina of time. An open-sided summer lounge crowned with a fabric roof and edged with curtains forms a relaxing outdoor haven for long summer days or cosy, convivial evenings. Further out, the lawn and tall trees seem to blend into the neighbouring forest.
