A masterfully renovated 1930s house nestled in a highly sought-after residential district of the city of Toulouse in south-west France.
The charming city of Toulouse is the administrative centre of France's beautiful Occitania region. It lies between the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and the endless Atlantic Ocean. Toulouse is renowned for the gentle lifestyle it offers and for its cultural vibrancy. With its 100,000 students, thriving firms and shops, and countless amenities, the capital of France's historical Languedoc province is an especially lively hub. Indeed, it is regularly voted as France's most vibrant city. The house is tucked away in Toulouse's highly sought-after Côte Pavée residential area. This district is conveniently close to the city centre. Yet it has its own small-town atmosphere with shops just a stone's throw away and everything you need for day-to-day life. Well-known schools nearby also add to the appeal of this pleasant spot. The city's main train station is only 15 minutes away and Toulouse international airport just 20 minutes away. Moreover, there is a future metro station only 400 metres from the property.
A matt gate leads onto a drive. The three-level house stands slightly above the road. It is coated with white rendering and crowned with a gable roof. Its facade is punctuated with arched openings and a bull's-eye window. An outdoor flight of concrete steps leads up to the first floor, the main level. And a side passageway with a separate storeroom leads to the back garden. A wooden terrace runs alongside the house lengthways and is extended with a garden that combines lawns with shrubs, trees and stone.
The houseAll the levels are arranged around a central staircase of solid oak - a true work of art that gives the interior a certain harmony. These bespoke stairs were crafted by a highly skilled joiner. They feature a remarkable openwork barrier of wooden strips that gives a central rooting inside the home. The whole staircase was made from a single tree.
The garden-level floor
The ground floor has a bedroom, a bathroom with a utility space, a separate shower room and a vast room that looks out at the garden through a broad, sliding glazed door. The latter room could serve as a lounge or a spare bedroom.
The first floor
An old front door fitted with wrought ironwork leads into an entrance hall, which connects to the rooms. There is a dining room filled with an abundance of natural light. It leads outside onto a front balcony. There is also a lounge and an open-plan kitchen with high-quality equipment. Part of the reception space has kept beautiful pinewood strip flooring. A lavatory completes this level.
The second floor
The second floor lies in the roof space. Up here, there is a bedroom with sloping attic ceilings. A bull's-eye window brings natural light inside it. From this round window, you can look out at the surrounding rooftops. There is an adjoining shower room with a walk-in shower, and then a lavatory. Some of the roof frame beams are exposed, punctuating this top space.
The gardenThe garden is very easy to maintain. It runs around the house.
